Carnivals and workshops to get us in the Lunar New Year spirit
With Chinese New Year just around the corner, we decided to have an early celebration to get us in the spirit of the spring festival - and what better way to prepare for a festivity than with a party that the entire family can enjoy? We kicked off celebrations at the Hainan Carnival which saw cultural dances and drum performances at Sunway Citrine Hub.
In addition to the entertainment, there was also a food spread featuring local favourites and photobooths available for families to document their memories in. Plus, a lucky draw that everyone had the opportunity to participate in! Prizes include a 6D4N trip to Hainan and other exclusive merchandise from the organiser.
It wouldn’t be a complete event at Iskandar Puteri if there weren’t any art elements to it; so just a few days after, MY Art Studio hosted its Dance with Chinese Northern Lion CNY Craft Workshop at Eco Botanic. Attendees were invited to learn how to make their very own Chinese Northern Lion mask at just RM25. The lion, as its known, symbolises good luck and is regarded as an auspicious animal for the Chinese New Year celebration. This was a chance for children and parents alike to learn about the brief history behind this tradition.
Overall, it was a fun family-week at Iskandar Puteri filled with food, music and art. And we hope to see you at the next one!
