Do you love to run, take part in triathlons, or just enjoy the adrenaline of competing? Then you need the right facilities to help you train and keep your body in tip-top condition for that big race! Thankfully in Iskandar Puteri, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to our wide range of parks and running trails. We’ve compiled a list of the best places to help you get into training mode.
1. EduCity Sports Complex
This 12-hectare multi-faculty complex is pretty epic. It features a 6,000-seat stadium with a full-size football pitch, and a 488-seat aquatic centre with an eight-lane Olympic-size pool. There are so many different things you can choose to do at the multi-purpose courts including playing basketball, badminton, netball, futsal and even table tennis. If team sports aren’t your thing, you can opt to hit the gym and get fit with the help of personal trainers, or join Zumba classes for something more fun.
2. GBS Running Gang
Motivating yourself to get off the sofa and get running isn’t easy. But with the help of your friends, it’s a whole lot easier. Organised by GBS Iskandar, the gang gathers at the Medini 6 police booth every Wednesday at 6pm. Just show up and join the runners for a scenic run through Medini. It’s also a great way to be a part of the community and meet new people who could potentially be your workout buddy in the future.
3. Sireh Park
Known as the largest public park in the country, Sireh Park is the perfect place to run, hike, and cycle. The 343-acre land consists of three separate hills with four peaks—the first hill has two peaks while the other two hills have one peak each—providing the perfect avenue to build your quad strength. The park also has a special jogging track with a hardened surface so you don’t have to go off-road.
4. Emerald Lake Garden Iskandar Puteri
Fancy a scenic run by the lake? Emerald Lake Garden is your go-to spot, surrounded by lush greenery with a great lake view. This 20-acre garden makes for the perfect spot for your next training session. Cycle around the lush landscaped garden or simply enjoy the panoramic view of both Johor and the Straits of Singapore as you run. You could also opt to run up the stairways to build your strength and power – but be sure to warm up before and after to avoid sore muscles!
5. Medini City
Wanna take your cycling skills to the next level? Try Medini City’s 22 km-long bicycle lane! As the longest cycling path in the country, you’re sure to burn more than a few calories while taking in the beautiful sights along the way. The bicycle lanes feature five strategically located pit stops along the path so you can park your bikes, get some rest, and simply enjoy the township’s green spaces and art attractions.
